Toffee Apples , or caramel apples, are a must-have treat on Guy Fawkes Night. Crispy and sweet, they're perfect for warming up cool autumn evenings. They resemble the candied apples often found at fairs and carnivals, but without the coloring: the caramel coating will take you right back to your childhood.

Preparation

  1. Wash and dry the apples thoroughly. Skewer them with wooden sticks so you can hold them easily.
  2. In a saucepan, combine the sugar, vinegar, water, and syrup. Heat over medium heat until the mixture reaches 150°C (check with a sugar thermometer).
  3. Once ready, dip each apple in the caramel, turning it to coat it well.
  4. Place the apples on parchment paper, add crushed walnuts to half of the apples and let the caramel harden before enjoying.
