  4. Prepare the puree: In a large bowl or directly in the saucepan, mash the sweet potatoes using a potato masher, a fork or an immersion blender for a smoother texture.
  5. Add the milk or coconut milk and mix well until smooth. Stir in the butter or coconut oil, then season with nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Adjust to taste.
  6. To finish and serve: Reheat the puree over low heat if necessary before serving.
